Why Can't I Find a Child Care Program on My Child Care Plan?

Can't find a specific child care program in your search? Learn why programs might not appear in My Child Care Plan search results.

Updated over a week ago

Are you having trouble finding a specific child care program? We understand this can be frustrating when planning care for your child. Here's why this might happen and what you can do about it.

Common Reasons Programs Don't Appear

Different Name Listed

The program might be listed under its official licensee name rather than its business name. For example, a daycare called "Sunshine Kids" might be licensed under "Jane Smith Family Child Care."

Not Accepting Referrals

Some child care providers choose not to accept referrals through the Resource & Referral (R&R) agencies. When this happens, their profiles won't appear in search results.

License Status Changes

A program might not appear if it:

  • Has recently closed

  • Is placed on probation

  • Has had its license revoked

  • Is under a Temporary Suspension Order (TSO)

What You Can Do

  1. Try searching with different name variations

  2. If you have the program's license number, check its current status on the Child Care Transparency Website (Licensing Facility Inspection Reports).
